Review #425 |
A Blended
Scotch. It is a blend of four single malts and three grain whiskies no younger
than 18 years old, in sherry casks. 664 bottles were made. The sweetness from
the old grain whiskies is really coming through in the smell. Some oak and
spices also comes forwards.
Lot of
flavours in the taste, and just a very slight alcohol burn (in the good way).
The malt whiskies is much more dominant here. Plums, raisins and light citrus.
Probably some very different malts they have used here. The finish is long and
the mouth stays all oily for a bit.
This really
shows that it is possible to make great Blended Scotch whiskies! Perfect
combination of the grain and malt whiskies and it has a great deal of flavours
and oils even though it is only 43,9 %. This is a perfect dram to serve to your
friends who are afraid of blended whiskies. This is might a bit high rating,
but the balance and complexity is just fantastic in this one! I will rate this
88/100 (21/22/22/23).
